Sustainability

Today's reality is that we live on a planet whose precious non-renewable resources are rapidly being exhausted, the result of which means that we must change the way we live our everyday lives in order to support the environment.

Sustainability is "an attempt to provide the best outcomes for the human and natural environments both now and into the indefinate future." Sustainability is key to the future of our environment, and with our growing awareness of all things ethical, we are now looking for products that reflect a concern both ethically and environmentally.

At The Tile Warehouse we actively embrance sustainability in our business to help our customers who are concerned about their impact on the environment to live more sustainable lives.

What we are doing...

We work hard at sourcing tiles from manufacturers who meet the highest ecological and ethical requirements, for example;

  • We work with a Spanish manufacturer with its own power station, enabling optimum efficiency during production with the excess power supplied to the local community.

  • A key Italian manufacturer produces tiles in the cleanest manufacturing process within the tile industry - pollutant gas emissions are reduced by over 90% and the waste water used in production is actually cleaner when it leaves the factory than when it entered.

We are delighted to introduce our ECO range; a new and unique porcelain stone tile collection that involves the recycling of up to 97% of waste product (available to order now).

You can be assured that we provide you with products that are affordable, practical and environmentally responsible, coupled with award-winning service including our unique Supply&Fit service. We believe that business is not just about benefiting for today, it's about putting into place those practices that can make a difference to the community and the environment of tomorrow.

What you can do...

Here are some top tips to bring sustainability into your home:

Turn off electronic devices
By simply turning off your TV, DVD player, stereo and PC when you're not using them will save you thousands of pounds of carbon dioxide a year! And that doesnt include putting them on standby!

Avoid products with lots of packaging
Re-using carrier bags, not bagging up your vege individually in supermarkets and avoiding over-packaged products can reduce household waste significantly.

Drive less
Making the effort to walk to places that are nearby will not only be beneficial exercise, you'll eliminate carbon dioxide emissions that would have come from your car. Or if you have to use the car, why not lift share with people who live nearby.

Recycle
Recycling has never been easier with more schemes to incentivise people to join in. If your council do not provide recycling bins in your home, your local shopping precinct is guarnteed to have a recycling site for glass, paper and plastics.

Plant a tree
Tree planting is a great gift idea and a single tree will absord one ton of carbon dioxide over its lifetime.
